Welcome Baby Goodin!

My cousin, Renee, and her husband, Aric, welcomed their first child on October 24, 2008. Evan Allen Goodin weighed in at 7 lbs., 6 oz. and was 19 inches long.

I was fortunate enough to be able to go to Virginia when Evan was barely two days old, so I could help out. I had such a wonderful time, and found it very difficult to leave! Evan is such a sweet, mellow little guy, and Renee and Aric are really cherishing their new roles as Mommy and Daddy.

Congratulations you two!!

You three make a beautiful family!

Congratulations, Daddy!

Congratulations to my Papa for winning the "Manager's Choice" award in the Annual Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge Photo Contest! His photo of an adorable little wren, singing his heart out, was chosen by the manager of the four refuges that run along the Columbia Gorge.

Unfortunately, I was in a really cruddy position in the crowd during the ceremony, and I ended up getting the back of Dad's head when the manager had Dad come forward to be recognized. Sorry about that, Papa! I'm so proud of you! :o)

About Our Family

Scott and I have been together for 20 years (married for almost 15), have had four wonderful kids, and more jobs and cars than most of us can count (we know which ones of you are laughing about THAT right now)! Truthfully, though, it all seems like a blur. It's happened way too fast, but we've enjoyed every single blessing that we've been given to the fullest. It's so hard to believe that as of this July, Tayler is no longer aged in single digits!! The ages of your children are definitely sharp reminders of how quickly your life has "cruised" along!

Scott

Scotty has recently acquired a new position as V.P. of Marketing Strategies for a web development company called Smart Solutions. His new company keeps its office in Bend, Oregon, but has hired Scott to work primarily from Portland, in an effort to better serve its Portland-based clients. He is very excited about the opportunities this new position may have in store for his career and also for our family. Even though we know he has to stay focused and keep working hard, the kids and I are very excited that he will be able to stay closer to us by working from home, and that his travel schedule will likely be minimal. As always, I am just so proud of his many accomplishments, and by his determination to overcome obstacles through strategic thinking, perseverance, and hard work. He has been a wonderful provider for our family, and the best friend I could have ever hoped to have married. We love him so much!

Tayler

Tayler is in the fifth grade now and is a very bright, helpful, kindhearted girl. She's a very good big sister to each of her siblings, but has definitely taken Abby under her wing to teach her all she knows! She is turning into a lovely young lady.

Liam

Liam is in third grade and still has a lot of energy, but has really matured so he can focus when necessary! He's a very sweet boy with a great deal of strength and desire to help out. Mama appreciates the help greatly!

Max

Max has started first grade this year and is doing well. I absolutely love his sensitivity and attention to detail. Max is always the one to notice if you have a new dress or shirt and doesn't hesitate to toss out a compliment. :o)

Abby

Finally, there's Abby. Abby has finally reached Kindergarten and is able to do “real school" with the other kids. She’s been waiting for this day for a very long time! Abby is simply an adorable little firecracker with lots of personality and sweetness. She is my very own jabber box...never stopping for more than a couple breaths before continuing on to share all that she knows with the world!

We just could not be any more thankful to God for these four precious gifts. They are the lights of our lives, and we feel so incredibly privileged to be their "Daddy and Mama".

As for me, I am keeping busy being a wife, "Mama", teacher, home economist, lover-of-photography (especially birds--thanks to my Dad), family enthusiast, and friend to some. I know that I don't make a handsome wage or anything doing what I do, but I wouldn't trade wearing any of my hats, for anything in the world...the compensation I receive each and every day is far more valuable than money could ever be.
